Change of plans…

Hey everyone,

It took us a while to finally get an update to everyone after we arrived in Thailand. Then, just a few days later, God changed our plans. Such is life sometimes when we follow the Spirit of God. “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:8)

We’ve sought the voice of God, the counsel of others and came to a unified decision as a family. Our YWAM base has gone through a tough year. We’ve had some unfortunate turn of events and people have responded to those events in different ways. In this season we believe that as the base leaders we need to remain here and provide a stable presence to build together upon. God has a special plan for us here at this time and we want to follow that plan.

This decision was not easy because we haven’t seen some family and friends for a LONG, LONG time, especially our family in South America. We were so excited about going to Chile because ALL of Cy’s family now live there, including her parents, brother, sister and the nieces and nephews. It has been almost 4 years since we saw them and we were longing to connect with them again.

One idea that we have is to try to raise the finances to bring Cy’s parents to us for a couple of months. The plane tickets alone are $5,000USD (literally from one side of the globe to the other). We’re praying that God would give us this opportunity to have them with us. It would be the first time someone from Cy’s family would travel out to Asia to spend time with us. If you would be interested in helping this dream come true for both Cy’s parents and ourselves, please click here for information on how to give.

Please pray for us in this time because we have a lot of work to do in God’s kingdom among us at the base. We’re hopeful, but also realize the task is great. If the Holy Spirit puts a word of encouragement or a Bible verse on your heart, please share it with us.

Thanks for your prayers, support and love.

September 2014

Greetings friends and family!

This update we’re going to try to share through pictures:

We spent one of our last days in Hawaii enjoying the sunset and beautiful weather. This is also our most recent family picture.
Our first day back in Thailand we had an accident. The vehicle was in repair for 6 weeks. We just recently got it back. No one hurt. Elias slept through it even though it hit his door. God is good!

…for helping us purchase the land behind us! Praise God for His provision through His people.

Rob was teaching about Spiritual Warfare in the Discipleship Training School in Chiang Rai and also in Ubon Ratchatani. This is always a joy for us because we love interacting with people young and old as we lead them deeper into the revelations of God’s word.
We as a YWAM base have started moving forward with the family housing project above our house. This Brazilian Constructor has offered to do free labor for us in order to get this project going. To get more information, please click here.

Plans until the end of the year:
1. Now – End of October – (Chiang Rai, leading the base, hosting the Leadership Training Seminar)

2. October – November (Abbotsford, Canada, reconnecting with Rob’s family, friends and churches)

3. November – Early January (Chile, reconnecting with Cy’s family, friends and YWAM)
4. January (Abbotsford, Canada, continuing to reconnect with Canadians)

Thaksin, one of our Thai Leaders

We’re planning on bringing one of our Thai YWAM leaders, Thaksin, with us to Canada and Chile. For the sake of learning English, we’re wondering if any of our friends/family would like to host this young man (29 years old) in their home from the end of October until the middle of November (4 weeks). If you would be interested in serving the development of this Thai leader, please let us know…even if you’d only be able to do so for a week or so. Please email us about the details of the arrangement.

Prayer requests
1. Wisdom – we’re leading people from many different nations and cultures and we always need the extra wisdom from the Holy Spirit to lead in unity.
2. The presence of God – we’re seeking more and more the presence of God in our lives and ministry. This is what we, and the world, need.
3. Finances – we’re planning on yet another miraculous trip to the Americas to reconnect with friends, family and churches. And we’re doing it with one of our Thai leaders. If you’d be interested in supporting this trip, please click here.
4. Our Community – we’re going through a few changes and challenges and we’d appreciate the prayer coverage. God wants to use us to bring transformation to our neighbourhood and the nations. This usually comes accompanied by different attacks from the enemy.

Thanks for your love and care,
Rob, Cy & Elias
